Johann Heinrich von Harpprecht

Johann Heinrich Freiherr von Harpprecht (born July 9, 1702 in Tübingen , † October 25, 1783 ) was a German lawyer .

Life

Johann Heinrich Freiherr von Harpprecht comes from the well-known Württemberg scholars and lawyers family of the Harpprechts . His father, Mauritius David Harpprecht , is a son of Johann Christoph Harpprecht and a brother of Ferdinand Christoph Harpprecht .

At the age of 10, Johann Heinrich lost his father in 1712. His mother, Anna Rosine Harpprecht (1671–1734), a daughter of Johann Valentin Moser von Filseck, moved to Stuttgart as a Witib with her eight half- orphans . After Johann Heinrich had completed his education at Stuttgart Gymnasium Illustre , he enrolled in 1719 at the University of Tübingen to study law . There he also heard the lectures of his cousin Georg Friedrich Harpprecht .

On August 24, 1724 Johann Heinrich Harpprecht was court counsel. Three years later he became court advisor to Hohenzollern , Hechingen and Sigmaringen . As such, he made several trips to Wetzlar and thus gained experience at the Imperial Court. He also married in 1727.

In the spring of 1733 Harpprecht became the director of the law firm in Neuenstadt am Kocher , and one year later he joined the government council in Stuttgart . The Swabian district in Ulm appointed him in 1739 as a directorate envoy, and in 1740 he also became a court assessor . After a dispute between Württemberg and Baden-Durlach , Harpprecht acted for the Imperial Court of Justice in the vocation from January 5, 1745 , and took his oath on April 5 that year. From 1762 he also ran the “Pfennigmeisteramt”.

Harpprecht also held other political and legal offices.

On January 7, 1764 he was appointed baron . However, this title was not passed on; Harpprecht's only son died in childhood. After a brief illness, von Harpprecht died on October 25, 1783 at the age of 81.

Johann August Ritter von Eisenhart describes von Harpprecht as "of medium size, stocky" , he had a lively, easily irritating temperament that he could not always control in his meetings. On the other hand, he was characterized by "his unshakable legality, his eagerness to serve, his goodwill" . Through his will, von Harpprecht also established a family scholarship, which is "a noble proof of loving care" .
