Johann Karl Nestler (born December 16, 1783 in Würbenthal ( Austria-Silesia ), † July 9, 1841 in Olomouc ( Moravia )) was an Austrian agricultural scientist and specialist writer.

Live and act

After 1800, Nestler studied philosophy, theology and jurisprudence at the Lyceum in Olomouc and, after several years of activity as court master, was from 1812 head of an educational and high school teaching institute at the Lilienfeld Abbey in Klafterbrunn in Lower Austria . From 1818 to 1820 he completed training on arable farms, and from 1821 he studied agriculture at the University of Vienna . In 1821 he became an adjunct at the chair for agricultural studies. From 1823 until his death in 1841 he taught as a full professor of agriculture at the philosophical faculty of the University of Olomouc , which was promoted to university again in 1828.

Nestler was a leading member of the "kk Moravian-Silesian Society for the Promotion of Agriculture, Natural and Regional Studies in Brno", in whose newsletter he published numerous articles. With these publications and several independent writings, he received great attention in the professional world. Nestler was a member of many other agricultural and scientific societies. In 1840 he organized the “Assembly of German Agriculture and Forestry”, which has been held at a different location every year since 1837, and published the official conference report.
