Johann Konrad Zuberbühler was a son of Bartholome Zuberbühler and Barbara Bruderer. In 1823 he married Maria Schläpfer, a daughter of Georg Leonhard Schläpfer . Zuberbühler came to Burgdorf in 1800 on a children's transport from the areas that were affected by the war-related rise in prices . There he attended the Pestalozzi Institute and the city school from 1800 to 1806 . From 1806 to 1807 he studied at the Pestalozzi Institute in Yverdon . He then worked at the Fellenberg Institute in Hofwil until 1820 , setting up a branch in Diemerswil . From 1820 to 1822 Zuberbühler also built the Trogen Educational Institution, which later became the Trogen Cantonal School . From 1822 to 1827 he taught at the newly founded secondary school Heiden , and in 1828 he opened his own boys' education institution in Gais. In order to avoid the transfer of political offices, he took over the management of the secondary school in St. Gallen in 1829. From 1837 to 1842 he was again in charge of the Trogen Cantonal School. From 1843 to 1844 he served as councilor in Gais and from 1844 to 1845 as mayor. From 1844 to 1852 he sat in the district administrator and was a member of the state school commission.
