The marriage resulted in four sons and four daughters, of whom only the daughter Maria Louise Margarethe Thering, nee. Lived on April 28, 1723. Career

Thering studied law and already as a student ( LLstud ) published the following congratulations on the birthday of King Friedrich I.

Activity in Berlin

When his father Lucas Heinrich Thering died in 1722, Thering published the following funeral pamphlet as his son:

Michaelmas (September 29) in 1727, he was appointed the first mayor for life, and by the Prussian soldier king Friedrich Wilhelm I. confirmed.

On August 18, 1728, the king ordered that not only the houses in the city of Frankfurt an der Oder should be cleaned in yellow and white, but that the church yards at St. Marien and St. Nikolai in the city should also be paved and new ones should be laid outside the same. Despite the reverent ideas of the council, the king prevailed. The second mayor, Genge, set a good example for the citizenship and made horses available for this measure, while the first mayor, Hofrat Thering, who had no horses, paid for the carts.

In 1732, on the orders of the Kurmärkischen War and Domain Chamber, the suburbs were enclosed with moats and palisades to improve excise income based on the model of the Berlin customs wall .

In 1734 Thering provided the city with oil laterals and drafted a plan for the reception of the Salzburg emigrants who had to leave their homeland as Protestant religious refugees from the Prince Archbishopric of Salzburg due to an expulsion decree of 1731 and of whom 20,000 were admitted to Prussia.

Around 1749, the Lord Mayor Thering founded three companies to improve the income of the Lutheran orphanage he founded. Little is known of the leather factory and the silk factory, which will soon be closed again, and for the operation of which mulberry trees were planted all over the city, even on the ramparts and in the city moat. These companies also include the wax bleaching / wax goods and artificial honeycomb factory von Harttung & Sons. This was the oldest industrial company in Frankfurt, founded in 1749 by the then Lord Mayor Thering.
