Johann Philipp von Droste zu Erwitte (* July 22, 1684 ; † 1734 ) was canon in Münster and Osnabrück .

Life

Origin and family

Johann Philipp von Droste zu Erwitte came from the Westphalian noble family Droste zu Erwitte , which went out in the middle of the 18th century and was named after the house of Erwitte . He was the son of Engelbert von Droste zu Erwitte and his wife Theresia Maria Anna von der Horst. His siblings were Benedikt Wilhelm Arnold (canon in Paderborn, Privy Councilor, Landdrost), Ferdinand Friedrich (1683–1728, canon in Paderborn and Münster), Caspar Ferdinand, ∞ with Juliana Elisabeth von Ketteler, parents of Ferdinand Philipp (1710–1736, Canon) and Engelbert Dietrich (1725–1769, Provost of the Cathedral in Hildesheim), Friedrich (Franciscan, Provost of Holzkirchen) and Maria, ∞ Heinrich Dietrich von Ketteler. His uncle Placidus von Droste was prince abbot in Fulda from 1678 to 1700 .

Act

In 1699 , the canon of Beveren renounced his Osnabrück cathedral praise and transferred it to Johann Philipp. At the suggestion of the cathedral chapter he was appointed cathedral sexton in 1722 and received a preamble in Münster the following year through papal approval . The Elector Clemens August appointed him after the death of Georg Wilhelm von Wolff-Guttenberg to Munster Chamber president. This office was endowed with a salary of 500 thalers. In 1726 he was ordained a subdeacon at his insistence in order to be able to vote for Jobst Matthias von Twickel in the election of the cathedral provost .
