Johann Ulrich Pregizer I , also called Pregitzer or the Elder (born March 29, 1577 in Kusterdingen , Württemberg ; † April 10, 1656 in Tübingen ) was a German Protestant theologian , university professor and Chancellor of the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen .

Life

Pregizer was the son of the pastor Johann Ulrich Pregizer (* 1537 in Tübingen; † 1597 in Kusterdingen) and his wife Charitas geb. Röhner (* 1536 in Ulm , † 1606 in Kusterdingen).

After completing his degree , he obtained a doctorate in Dr. of theology and in 1612 became pastor in Calw , 1620 professor of theology in Tübingen, 1652 chancellor of the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen. He was an important advisor to Duke Eberhard III of Württemberg .

On April 10, 1607 he married Tabitha Hesch in Tübingen (born January 10, 1589 in Urach ; † September 4, 1641). From this marriage came the three children Johann Ulrich II (* 1611), Johann Jacob (* 1614) and Anna Katharina (* 1622). In doing so, he founded a family of university teachers from Württemberg, but was also one of the ancestors of Wilhelm Hauff , Justinus Kerner and Ludwig Uhland .
