Johann Vonmoos

Johann Vonmoos also in short form Jon Vonmoos (born June 10, 1873 in Ramosch ; † March 3, 1956 ibid), entitled to live in Ramosch, was a Swiss politician (FDP) .

Life

Family and work

The reformed baptized Johann Vonmmos, son of in Italy operating merchant Not Andri Vonmoos and his Wife Ursula born Bardola, changed after visiting the institute à Porta in Ftan to the district school of Chur , where he earned the 1891 maturity . Following Johann Vonmoos turned to the study of law at the Universities of Heidelberg , Zurich , Munich and Berlin to which he in 1896 with the promotion of Dr. iur. completed. After he was subsequently admitted to the bar in Bern , the large landowner ran a law firm and a farm in Ramosch.

Johann Vonmoos was married to Maria Eva, daughter of the businessman Florio Tognoni, his second marriage to Elisabeth from Peist , daughter of the teacher in Chur Johannes Jäger. He died in 1956 at the age of 82 in his home town of Ramosch.

Political career

Johann Vonmoos, who joined the Liberal Democratic Party , was elected to the Grisons Grand Council in 1897 at the age of 24 , to which he then belonged until 1914 and from 1919 to 1947, where he also held the office of state president in 1908 and 1937. In the meantime he represented his party in the Small Council from 1914 to 1920 , where he headed the Interior and Economic Department. In 1919 the people elected him to the National Council , from which he resigned in 1943. He also acted as district president of the Ramosch district from 1897 to 1901 and as district court president from 1945 to 1951.

Johann Vonmoos, an outstanding politician in agriculture, forestry and alpine farming, held the office of President of the Agricultural Club of the Federal Assembly for 20 years . Johann Vonmoos was one of the co-initiators of Hovag , which later became Ems-Chemie. From 1939 to 1952 he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) .
