coat of arms

Blazon : In blue, gold post , covered with a rising blue arrow .

The main occupations are agriculture and handicrafts. There is a construction company, a sawmill and two carpentry shops in the village. One of the joiner's shops is the only company that ever produces the traditional Schanfigger sledge . Tourism plays a minor role in Peist.

traffic

The Schanfiggerstrasse runs through Peist . The former church is opened by the 1914 Arosa line of the Rhaetian Railway addition and since April 1 in 1981 by the post bus line connected Chur Peist to the public transport network. With the commissioning of the railway, the Peist station was inaugurated.

Attractions

The reformed village church is a listed building . The Rufanatöbeli east of the Farbtobel is known for its peculiar, sandy erosion formations («Steimannli»). In September 2012, the Graubünden Civil Engineering Office decided against the initial resistance of the environmental associations in Graubünden to completely remove the largest Steimannli there, as the boulder on its top posed a threat to the Schanfiggerstrasse below.

At the station there is the Peister ash , one of the oldest ash trees in Europe.
