Johann von Massow

Johann Franz Gottlob von Massow (born December 1, 1761 in Stolp , † November 18, 1805 in Treten ) was the district administrator of the Rummelsburg district in Western Pomerania .

Life

He came from the Pomeranian noble family Massow . His father Bogislaff George von Massow (1717–1780) was the heir to Brünnow , his mother Veronica Louise was born from Versen . The grandfather Joachim Rüdiger von Massow was the heir to Brünnow and the district administrator of the Rummelsburg district.

Massow initially received private tuition at home and joined the Prussian Army in 1775, when he was about 14 years old . He took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 , became an officer in 1782 and retired from military service in 1785 with the character of a captain .

Massow sold the inherited Brünnow estate and instead bought the Treten estate . In 1796 he was elected as the successor to the late Balthasar Ludwig von Wobeser (1721–1796) as district administrator for the Rummelsburg district and appointed by the king. He remained district administrator until his death in 1805. Johann Adolph August Wilhelm von Puttkamer (1777-1853) succeeded him as district administrator .

Massow was married to a born von Rosenberg (1769-1808). The sons Karl Wilhelm (1786-1833) and Friedrich August (1788-1850) emerged from the marriage.
