In 2001 she became the head of the bilingual elementary school in Latschach and in 2002 she became the district school inspector of Wolfsberg . Trodt-Limpl has been the district school inspector of Villach- Stadt since February 1st, 2004 . Her appointment as district school inspector in Villach was heavily criticized because the position had not been advertised.

politics

Trodt-Limpl entered the Carinthian state parliament on March 31, 2004 as a member of the FPÖ. In the course of the split, she switched - like most of the Carinthian FPÖ officials - to the BZÖ and was area spokeswoman for education / school and animal welfare for the BZÖ state parliament club. In March 2007 Trodt-Limpl was elected local group leader of the BZÖ in Finkenstein am Faaker See . After Trodt-Limpl was almost ousted from office by Werner Sitter in January 2009 during an illness-related absence as a candidate for mayor, she achieved 18.4% of the votes in the direct mayor election in March 2009. Your competitor Sittner, who had started with an FPÖ list, came to 15.2%. Trodt-Limpl left the state parliament after the state elections in March 2009 after she was only ranked 54th on the BZÖ state list. After the municipal council elections in 2009, she became Vice Mayor of Finkenstein am Faaker See for the BZÖ . In the course of the separation of the Freedom Party in Carinthia from the BZÖ and the founding of the FPK , Trodt-Limpl was voted out of office as deputy mayor on April 8, 2010 after she had spoken out against the separation. With her, the community board was also replaced from its function. Trodt-Limpl continued as a simple councilor in Finkenstein. In the 2013 state elections , she ran for the BZÖ as the top candidate in state electoral district 3 and on March 28, 2013, she was once again sworn in as one of two BZÖ members as a member of the Carinthian state parliament. At the regional party conference of the Carinthian BZÖ, Trodt-Limpl was finally elected as the new regional chairwoman on November 30, 2013 with 63.3% of the votes.

After the previous federal party chairman of the BZÖ Gerald Grosz resigned from his office, Johanna Trodt-Limpl was elected as his successor on March 30, 2015. In May 2017, however, she announced her retirement from politics. She will no longer run as BZÖ chairwoman, she wants to stay in the state parliament until the state election in 2018 . In June 2017 she was succeeded by Helmut Nikel as state party chairman of the BZÖ Carinthia. Shortly after his appointment, Nikel publicly accused his predecessor of embezzling party funds, and the public prosecutor's office opened an investigation. In order to forestall an expulsion from the party, Trodt-Limpl and Korak then declared their exit from the BZÖ Carinthia, but kept their state parliament mandates as non-party members. The BZÖ was no longer represented as a party in the state parliament and lost the right to party funding in the high six-figure range. In the following state elections, the BZÖ, with Helmut Nikel as the top candidate, was only able to win over 0.37% of the Carinthians.
