Johannes Albertus Finger

Johannes Albertus Finger (* around 1660 in Cochem ; † April 28, 1721 there ) was an imperial postmaster and magistrate .

Life

Johannes Finger's family originally came from Bernkastel-Kues . From there they moved to Cochem in 1624. Finger, whose schooling was not recorded, was an electoral waiter , imperial postmaster, magistrate and consul in Cochem. After the destruction of Cochem by French troops Louis XIV in 1689, Finger had the destroyed house on the market square rebuilt as a patrician house in 1699 . Above the lintel , he had an oval relief plaque affixed with the year 1699 and the clearly recognizable initials JAFMGH, which stood for the names of the client Johannes Albertus Finger and his wife Maria Gertrud Hochgürtel.

After many years of disputes over the spiritual and secular order of the estates , these were at the state parliament of 1714 under the Trier Elector Karl III. Joseph of Lorraine united. The agreement was signed on November 23, 1714 in Koblenz by Johannes Albertus Finger as a representative of the city of Cochem with the text "qua deputatus Cochemensis" (German as Cochems' deputy ).

According to a document from Postmaster General Anselm Franz von Thurn and Taxis dated August 23, 1720, Johannes Albertus Finger took over the new postal administration in Cochem due to his father's weakness with age, with the order: “To colligate and distribute the letters, to collect the postage and to us or ours To charge your superior Reich Post Office of Coblentz , to receive and order all ordinaries, besides those staffettes , ... ". Johannes Albertus Finger was in his first marriage around 1730 with Maria Agnes, born in Cochem. Pauli married. Their sons were Philipp Carl (baptized on June 2, 1732) and Theodor Adolph (baptized on March 3, 1735; † March 23, 1800). A grandson and son of Arnold Albert Finger was the Cochemer Stadtschultheiß Arnold Joseph Finger (1746-1809). In his second marriage, Johannes Albertus Finger was with Katharina Gertrud, born on March 3, 1737. Nalbach married.
