As the son of a country doctor, Blanckmeister attended the Friedrich-Schiller-Gymnasium in Pirna . After graduating from high school, he studied forest science at the Tharandt Forestry University . In 1919 he became a member of the Corps Silvania Tharandt . After graduating as Dr.-Ing. he was initially a forest judge . In February 1931 he became forester in Wermsdorf / Hubertusburg .

With Hermann Krutzsch (Forestry Office Bärenfels ) and Willy Wobst (Forestry Office Hinterhermsdorf ) he supported the establishment of a working group for natural forest management after the Second World War . In the GDR, Krutzsch and Blanckmeister were among the few signatories of the 1950 appeal. From 1958 to 1964, Blanckmeister taught at the Dresden University of Technology , in the Forestry Faculty, at the Forest Management Institute in Tharandt. The merit Blanck master was that in the GDR a turn towards natural silviculture and clear cutting loose and vorratspflegliche forestry took place. The fact that these theories were partly lost in the inadequacy and in everyday life in the GDR does not change their correctness and sustainability.

In 1958 he was appointed to the chair of silviculture by the Tharandt University . In 1966 he retired . Blanckmeister died in Dresden in 1982 and found his final resting place in the Leubnitz-Neuostra cemetery .
