Johannes Franz August of Devivere

Johannes Franz August von Devivere (born November 3, 1798 in Lippstadt , † June 28, 1878 in Meschede ) was a German local politician and district administrator .

Devivere came from a family originally from Ghent who emigrated in the wake of the French Revolution . The father was Anselm Franz Joseph von Devivere, who had acquired a manor in the Meschede district . The mother was Marie Isabelle Franziska von Tassigny.

Devivere passed his Abitur at the Archigymnasium in Soest . He then served as a one-year volunteer with the 2nd Dragoon Regiment . Between 1822 and 1823 he worked in the mayor's office of Hamm . Then he became mayor's secretary in Warendorf . From 1824 Devivere officiated as mayor of Füchtorf in the Warendorf district . From 1829 he was mayor of Arnsberg and also from 1836 of the rural community of Arnsberg. From 1837 Devivere was mayor in Schwefe in the Soest district and from 1844 in Freienohl. From 1854 he officiated as district administrator in the Meschede district . He was a bearer of the Red Eagle Order, 4th class.
