Johannes Hohl

Johannes Hohl (born February 23, 1813 in Wolfhalden ; † June 27, 1878 in Basel ; authorized to reside in Wolfhalden) was a Swiss cantonal police director , cantonal councilor , governor , national councilor and councilor from the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Johannes Hohl was a son of Johannes Hohl and Anna Niederer. In 1857 he married Anna Elisabeth Bachmann, daughter of Joachim Bachmann, Cantonal Councilor, and widow of Matthias Oertli, baker and landlord . In 1832 he attended the Bandlin Educational School in Yverdon . He broke off his training due to illness. From 1835 to 1839 he worked as a clerk at the Waldenburg district writing office . From 1839 to 1847 he was actuary of the cantonal interrogation commission and canton archivist in Appenzell Ausserrhoden. From 1845 to 1847 he was secretary of the state police.

From 1847 to 1865 he served as land clerk , canton police director and actuary for various government commissions. From 1859 to 1871 he sat on the Grand Council and from 1859 to 1861 on the Revision Council. From 1866 to 1868 he held the office of state governor and council of states. From 1869 to 1871 he was the Landammann of Ausserrhoder. From 1869 to 1873 he was a free-spirited national councilor (left in the federal assembly ). From 1870 to 1872 he was a member of the commission for the revision of the federal constitution . From 1866 to 1871 he was director of the private bank for Appenzell Ausserrhoden. He resigned on suspicion of irregular management. From 1871 to 1873 he was a privateer and district judge in St. Gallen .
