Johannes Hugentobler (born June 6, 1897 in Staad , † June 11, 1955 in Appenzell ) was a Swiss painter , artist and architect . In addition to churches and chapels, Hugentobler painted numerous houses in Appenzell's village center. Even today his style is omnipresent in Appenzell and shapes the village image. He was also active as a glass, wall and ceramic painter.
