Johannes Neuhardt

Johannes Neuhardt (born September 22, 1930 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian Catholic clergyman and art historian .

Life

Johannes Neuhardt studied philosophy and Catholic theology in Salzburg and was ordained a priest in 1953. He was initially a cooperator in Bischofshofen, Kufstein-Endach, Kitzbühel and as a sub-rain in the Salzburg seminary. He then studied art history and archeology at the University of Innsbruck and was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD.

Neuhardt was diocesan curator of the Archdiocese of Salzburg from 1960 to 2011 . In Neuhardt, the Salzburg Cathedral Museum was built and opened in 1974. Until 1994 he was its director. He was also involved in the establishment of the telephone counseling , the media commission of the Archdiocese of Salzburg and the Kardinal-König-Kunstfonds .

In 1978 Johannes Neuhardt became a member of the Salzburg Cathedral Chapter , the Metropolitan and Cathedral Chapter on Saints Rupert and Virgil, and was cathedral dean from 1992 to 2005 .
