Johannes P. Osterhoff is a German media artist. He lives and works in Berlin .

biography

In 2006 Johannes P. Osterhoff created Hausbau, the first generatively illustrated PDF magazine of its kind.

In his current projects he deals with the graphic user interface , privacy and the value of data from an artistic point of view . His picture series Aqua and Aero consist of fragments of the user interfaces of the same name. The work Defense deals with the visual language of Windows Vista and its UAC . Google - One-Year Performance Piece , iPhone live and Dear Jeff Bezos are annual performances in which Osterhoff misappropriates the data, some of which is automatically collected, and makes it publicly accessible.

Dear Jeff Bezos (2013-2014)

One-year performance at Osterhoff modified its Amazon Kindle so that it automatically sent e-mails to Jeff Bezos with the reading progress saved via Amazon Whispernet .

iPhone live (2012-2013)

Performance in which Osterhoff logged his activities on his iPhone for a year and made them publicly accessible on the Internet. He used an iPhone with Jailbreak , which automates on the iPhone available screenshots rendered on a website.

Google - One-Year Performance Piece (2011)

Online performance, in which Osterhoff publicly posted the search queries it made in 2011 to draw attention to the value of this data for Google.

Berlin iPad adbusting (2010)

For the market launch of the iPad in Germany, Osterhoff added porn pictures to an iPad advertisement on Rosenthaler Platz in Berlin. This adbusting referred to Steve Jobs' statement that the iPad would offer "Freedom from Porn" and thus inspired further actions at WWDC 2010 .
