Johannes Schreiber (painter)
Johannes Schreiber (born November 18, 1921 in Kronstadt ) is a Romanian - Austrian painter , graphic artist , commercial artist and art teacher .
Live and act
Schreiber completed an apprenticeship in stage design and performing arts at the State Theater in Sibiu . He studied drawing and painting at the Technical University of Brno and in Budapest , in the painting school of Arnold Clementschitsch in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee and at the Linz art school with Karl Hauk . His works are influenced by the work of Wolfgang von Wersin .
He worked as a freelancer and made his knowledge and skills available to the Linz Art Academy , the Economic Development Institute in Linz, the Upper Austria Chamber of Commerce , the Linz City Cultural Office , the Upper Austrian State Museums , various HTLs and the Mozarteum University in Salzburg .
With the design of the chancel of the Gratitude Church in Braunau am Inn and with various representative exhibitions, he gained national fame.
Schreiber's artistic work focuses on the transcendent in the picture. To this end, Schreiber developed his painterly and graphic work independently of the artistic trends of the time over the course of four post-war decades. Schreiber's pictures are based on expressionist formal language and he develops his representations in a “lyrical color scheme” so that the emotion of direct expression can be combined with a pronounced painterly depth effect.
From 1953 to 1975 he was a member of the Association of Austrian Commercial Graphics and the artists' association MAERZ . Schreiber's works can be found in the art collection of the Province of Upper Austria and in the holdings of the City of Linz.

media
Schreiber's artistic work has been mentioned and commented on several times in newspapers and magazines:
- Kulturpolitische Korrespondenz , issues 605 to 621, Ostdeutscher Kulturrat, 1986 (Ed.): “... Johannes Schreiber, who is one generation younger (note: compared to Grete Csaki-Copony , * 1893), also supports the powerful picturesque painter and allows comparison to his compatriot Hans Eder (1883 to 1953), not only because of the biblical subject. "
- Südostdeutsche Vierteljahresblätter , Volume 24, Issues 2 to 4, Südostdeutsches Kulturwerk, 1975 (Ed.): “Outstanding personalities and despite the expressive language of contrasting palettes and forms were Grete Csaki-Copony and Johannes Schreiber; Both born in Kronstadt, they see the landscape with different eyes, there colorful, yes happy and colorful, here gloomy, heavy. These two interpreters of nature, separated by half a century in their old age, mark out the wide arc on which the landscape painters of the southeast move. "
