Johannes Slawig

John Slawig (* 21st May 1955 in Braunschweig ) is a German election official and current treasurer and alderman of the independent city Wuppertal in Bergisches Land , North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW).

Life

He went to school in Sprockhövel , Hattingen and in the Sauerland town of Meschede . Slawig studied history , classical philology and philosophy at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität in Münster and received his doctorate in 1987 (according to other sources, 1988) with a dissertation on "The fight against dueling in Germany in the 19th and 20th centuries, with special emphasis on Prussia" (Notation!). He became a consultant in the culture and school department of the city of Münster and scientific consultant for the CDU - parliamentary group for culture, school, further education and sport in the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . In 1991 he became a department head in the city of Paderborn and deputy chairman of the University Society of Paderborn University . On November 1, 1998, he moved to Wuppertal, where he was first chief city ​​director and (after the state-wide abolition of this office in North Rhine-Westphalia) in 2000 city ​​director , first alderman and human resources officer of the city. He still holds this office today and was re-elected on August 25, 2014 by the coalition of CDU and SPD in the Wuppertal city council. His predecessors in office were Joachim Cornelius and before that Bodo Richter .
