Johannes Unger
Johannes Unger (* 1976 in Schlema ) is a German organist .
Life
Johannes Unger was born in Schlema as the son of the conductor Wolfgang Unger . He studied piano , organ and church music at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig . He has given concerts in Denmark , France , England , Australia and the USA . Unger accompanies the Thuringian Academic Singing Circle as organist and worked from 2003 to 2009 as assistant organist at the Thomaskirche in Leipzig .
Since June 2009 Unger has been organist at St. Marien zu Lübeck . He is a board member of the International Dieterich Buxtehude Society .
Awards
- 1998: 1st prize at the International Organ Competition in Odense / Denmark
- 2000: 1st prize at the XII. International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition in Leipzig
- 2001: 1st Prize for Interpretation at the St Albans International Organ Festival
