Johanniskirche in Neukirchen

history

The core of the church goes back to a castle chapel and probably dates from the 13th century. The sanctuary is of Romanesque origin. The nave was built in the 17th or 18th century. The municipality had a renovation carried out in 1960/61.

Neukirchen has belonged to the parish of Meeder since the Reformation . In 1754 the daughter parish was assigned to the parish in Weißenbrunn vorm Wald . On October 1, 1948, the parish to Rottenbach followed , because the way to Weißenbrunn, about three kilometers away, through the inner-German border had become longer. At the same time Neukirchen became an independent parish, which has been looked after by the Evangelical Lutheran parish in Unterlauter since 1971 . In 2015, the community had around 200 members.

description

Sanctuary

The church stands on a small slope in the Neukirch cemetery. It has a 3.3 meter long and 4.0 meter wide choir room , which is spanned by a wooden flat ceiling. Two console stones that used to be used as cornices are of Romanesque origin. In the choir, the organ is on a gallery behind the altar. The gable on the east side is paneled. Below are two narrow arched windows. The south side has a small rectangular window.

The 9.0 meter long and 5.8 meter wide nave with its galleries on the long sides spans a wooden coffered ceiling. On the south side there are three small, flat-arched windows and a round arched door and on the north side a younger, large flat-arched window. The western gable side has no openings and is boarded at the top.

The chancel and the nave have gable roofs covered with red tiles . Near the west side is an octagonal, slate roof turret with a helmet as a bell tower with two bells . One of them comes from the parish of Zindel in Silesia and came to Neukirchen via the Hamburg bell cemetery. The bell was cast in 1783 by Johann Georg Krieger in Breslau .

organ

In 1820 the community bought a used organ. In 1860 Christoph Hofmann and Sons from Neustadt built a new organ with six registers on one manual and pedal . A general renovation took place in 1995 by Thomas Jann Orgelbau from Regensburg. The lower case with the play cabinet has two rows with four register pulls each. Above it is a three-part prospectus with a rectangular central field and side fields without a cornice . The outer pilaster strips are decorated with finials . The cut-out ribbon-shaped decor is decorated with fish bubbles and rosettes in a neo-Gothic style .
