John Alfred Nehrman

John Alfred Nehrman (born September 2, 1860 in Åmål , Sweden , † 1936 in Strängnäs , Sweden) was a Swedish painter and illustrator from the Düsseldorf and Munich schools .

Life

Nehrman was born the son of the customs officer Carl Gustaf Nehrman (1825-1910) and his wife Johanna Carolina Wickholm (Wickbom). His brothers were the public prosecutor Karl Hjalmar Abraham Nehrman (1859-1930), father of the sculptor Britta Catharina Nehrman (1901-1978), and the bank director August Wilhelm Nehrman (1863-1946). From 1878 to 1881 Nehrman studied painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . There Andreas Müller , Heinrich Lauenstein , Peter Janssen , Julius Roeting and Eduard Gebhardt were his teachers. In Düsseldorf he was a member of the artists' association Malkasten . On October 21, 1882 Nehrman enrolled in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . In Munich around 1890 he was available as a draftsman and caricaturist for the magazine Fliegende Blätter .
