John Chin

John Chin (born February 10, 1976 in Seoul ) is an American jazz musician ( piano , composition , also keyboard ) of modern jazz .

Live and act

Chin took jazz lessons in the Early Entrance Program at California State University when he was 14 ; then he bought already with 19 years of the Bachelor of Arts in music before his studies at the University of North Texas continued to be at the Rutgers University to acquire the master. There he had lessons from Kenny Barron ; he received another degree from the Juilliard School . He has his own recording studio in the Prospect Park neighborhood of Brooklyn. Starting in 2013, Chin worked as a music educator in a Carnegie Hall program with prisoners and young mothers in hospitals.

In addition, Chin also appeared on an international level as a musician and band leader. a. with Ron Carter , Benny Golson , Irvin Mayfield , Jaimeo Brown , Gregory Tardy , Marianne Solivan , Mark Turner , Dayna Stephens , Joel Frahm , John Ellis , Chris Cheek , Yasushi Nakamura and Rudy Royston . Chin has so far released three albums with his own compositions under his own name, initially Blackout Conception in 2008 (with Mark Turner as guest soloist), followed by Undercover (2014) and FIFTH (2016). In the field of jazz, he was involved in six recording sessions between 2005 and 2015, according to Tom Lord . Currently (2019) he leads a trio with Sean Conly (bass) and Darrell Green (drums).
