Jaimeo Brown (* 1978 ) is an American jazz drummer and band leader.

Live and act

Brown's parents are both musicians; he grew up listening to jazz in her New York home. At the age of 16 he began playing drums for the first time; his teacher was Sly Randolph . He then studied in the jazz program at William Paterson University , which he graduated with honors in 2001; in his bachelor thesis he dealt with the "influence of the black church on jazz."

Right after the bachelor , he was the drummer of the Mingus Big Band . He later played with musicians as diverse as Bobby Hutcherson , Kenny Garrett , Wynton Marsalis , Carlos Santana , Stevie Wonder , Carl Craig and Q-Tip . In 2007 he continued his studies at Rutgers University with Victor Lewis up to the master's; In 2008 he presented his work as a composer and arranger with the University Big Band in Birdland , New York . In 2009 he toured the Middle East as an American jazz ambassador. He also belonged to the band of Greg Tardy , with whom he presented seven albums; he also recorded with Joe Locke ( Lay Down My Heart: Blues & Ballads Vol.1 ) and with Craig Brann . By 2015 he was involved in 20 recordings in the field of jazz. His Transcendence project around JD Allen and Chris Sholar , which was also presented at JazzFest Berlin 2013, is “a melting pot of Afro-American musical traditions, enriched with Indian elements. Gospel and spirituals meet soul , hip-hop and free improvisation . ”There he expanded his trio to include keyboardist Kelvin Sholar , who is also at home in styles as diverse as free improvisation, groove jazz and techno .
