John Denham (politician)
John Yorke Denham (* 15. July 1953 ) is a British politician of the Labor Party .

John Denham was British Secretary of State in the Home Office and Deputy Secretary of the Interior David Blunkett in the government of Tony Blair . He resigned on March 18, 2003 in protest against the government's Iraq policy . From June 2007 he was a member of the cabinet of the Gordon Brown government . After Denham was initially Minister for Innovation and Universities, he moved to a cabinet restructuring in June 2009 as Hazel Blears' successor to the Ministerial Office for Municipalities and Local Policy . After the lost general election in May 2010 , he had to give up this post.
He is also a member of the House of Commons and the Privy Council .
