John F. Seymour

John F. Seymour (born December 3, 1937 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American real estate investor and politician ( Republican Party ) who represented the state of California in the US Senate .

Life

John Seymour received his education in Mount Lebanon ( Pennsylvania ). He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1955 to 1959 . In 1962 he graduated from the University of California in Los Angeles . After that he worked as a real estate agent, real estate management and fiduciary trade until 1981. In 1980 he became President of the California Real Estate Association.

Political career

From 1974 to 1978 Seymour was a member of the Anaheim City Council ; then he served as mayor of this city until 1982. From 1982 he sat in the California Senate , of which he was a member until 1991. After US Senator Pete Wilson resigned his mandate on January 7, 1991 to become governor of California , he named Seymour as his own interim successor on the same day; three days later the swearing-in took place in Washington . However, Seymour lost the by-election to the final follow-Wilson November 3, 1992 against Democrat Dianne Feinstein and retired from the November 10, Congress made.

After that, he no longer appeared politically. Seymour currently resides in Indian Wells .
