John Kowalski (born December 22, 1951 in Miłków , Poland ) is a former Polish coach of US football clubs and former coach of the US national futsal team and the US national soccer team . He currently coaches the women's soccer team at Robert Morris University and the U-15 girls' team at Stars United SC in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania .

Career

Kowalski was the coach of the US national futsal team , with whom he won a bronze medal at the 1st Futsal World Cup in the Netherlands in 1989 and a silver medal at the second Futsal World Cup in 1992 in Hong Kong . In 1991 he coached the US national soccer team for three games , with which he achieved a win, a draw and a defeat before he had to give up his post to Bora Milutinović . Since the Futsal World Cup has been recognized by FIFA , the silver medal achieved in 1992 is the highest medal ever won in US men's football in a tournament organized by FIFA. From 1997 to 1998 he was the coach of the Major League Soccer Club Tampa Bay Mutiny, which existed from 1996 to 2001 . Other coaching stations were the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and the indoor soccer club Pittsburgh Spirit . Since 2003 he has coached the women's soccer team at Robert Morris University and is also the coach of the U-15 girls' team at Stars United SC in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania . He has been with the team for several years now and has already celebrated some successes with the girls, such as the semi-finals at the PA West State Cup in 2008 .

Kowalski's wife is called Pat and he has a daughter named Kaylene. The family currently resides in Sewickley, Pennsylvania .
