John Levén
John Gunnar Levén (born October 25, 1963 in Stockholm ) is the bass player for the Swedish rock band Europe . Levén is divorced and has two sons, Alex and Daniel.
At the age of seven, John Levén moved to the Stockholm suburb of Upplands Väsby , where other members of Europe grew up. In 1981 he joined the band that had been formed two years earlier and was still called Force at the time. As bassist, he was the successor to Peter Olsson, who had left shortly before. In 1985, John Levèn Joey Tempest proposed to write a song based on a keyboard riff that Tempest had composed several years earlier. The result was the song The Final Countdown , with which Europe achieved its breakthrough in 1986 and which, among other things, topped the hit list in Germany for four weeks .
After Europe decided to take a break in 1992 (which - apart from a short break at the turn of the millennium - lasted a total of twelve years), Levén played with bands such as Brazen Abbot, Clockwise, Last Autumn's Dream and Southpaw. He also worked with Europe - guitarist John Norum and Glenn Hughes , the former singer of Black Sabbath and Deep Purple together.
