The Final Countdown (English for: 'The last countdown ') is the third studio album by the Swedish hard rock formation Europe . The title track of the album, which had already been released in February, reached first place in the charts in 26 countries, making the band known worldwide.

In 2001 the album was reissued and also contains three live versions of the numbers The Final Countdown , Danger On the Track and Carrie .

Another track recorded during this period, On Broken Wings , was later pushed onto the B-side of The Final Countdown's single .

Except for the track Carrie , the entire record was used as film music in Hot Rod - Mit Vollgas durch den Hölle (2007). Furthermore was The Final Countdown in Manta - Der Film (1991) heard. The Final Countdown was certified triple platinum in the US in 1994 .
