John Lindley (cinematographer)

John William Lindley (born November 17, 1951 in New York City ) is an American cinematographer .

Life

Lindley attended New York University Film School and began his career as a professional cameraman on music videos , the most famous of which is Road to Nowhere by The Talking Heads . In 1981 he worked on the television film Andrea Doria: The Final Chapter for the first time on a feature film.

He was nominated for the 1998 Golden Satellite Award for his camerawork on Pleasantville - Too good to be true . The work on this film was overshadowed by a fatal accident of his second assistant, which was attributed to fatigue. Lindley, who is very active in the American union for cameramen The Camera Guild , then initiated a petition to enforce the so-called Brent's Rule , which reduces the maximum working time of filmmakers to 14 hours.
