John Netherland Heiskell

John Netherland Heiskell (* 2. November 1872 in Rogersville , Hawkins County , Tennessee ; † 28. December 1972 in Little Rock , Arkansas ) was an American politician of the Democratic Party . From January 6, 1913 to January 29, 1913 he sat for the US state of Arkansas in the US Senate .

biography

Heiskell was born in Rogersville, in eastern Tennessee. Little is known about Heiskell's youth. It is known that from 1902 until his death he was the owner and editor of the Arkansas Gazette , which received the Pulitzer Prize twice . After the sudden death of Jeff Davis , Heiskell was named Davis' successor in the Senate. His term of office lasted 23 days. William M. Kavanaugh then succeeded Heiskell.
