John Reynolds Gardiner (born December 6, 1944 in Los Angeles , California , † March 4, 2006 in Anaheim , California) was an American writer .

Gardiner studied engineering at the University of California at Los Angeles. He completed his studies with a master’s degree. After completing his studies, Gardiner worked full-time as an engineer in a contract for the aviation industry , where he specialized in thermodynamics . He also worked as a writer and editor of children's stories for television. He lived u. a. in West Germany and Central America .

Based on a legend from Idaho , he wrote his first book "Steinadler" ( Stonefox ), which was translated into three languages ​​and was filmed in 1987 for American television under the title Stonefox . Gardiner then lived with his wife in California, where he continued to work part-time for television and write books. Gardiner wrote three children's books throughout his career as a writer. Gardiner died on March 4, 2006 in an Anaheim hospital from complications from pancreatitis .
