Jong Song-il (born September 7, 1988 ) is a former North Korean ice hockey player .
Career
Jong Song-il appeared for the North Korean national team for the first time at the 2008 World Cup in Division III, when the promotion to Division II was successful. There he played at the 2009 World Cup . After relegation in 2009, he returned to Division III in 2010 and immediately rose again with the team. Since the North Koreans did not take part in the World Cup the following year for financial reasons, he also played in the lowest division in 2012 and 2013 . In both tournaments, the North Koreans missed promotion to Division II by only one place in second (2012 behind Turkey and 2013 behind South Africa ). At the 2007 Asian Winter Games , he and his team finished fifth among eleven teams.
At club level, Jong played for Pyongchol in the North Korean ice hockey league from 2007 to 2013 and was North Korean champion with the club in 2010 and 2011.
