Joonas Rask (born March 24, 1990 in Savonlinna ) is a Finnish ice hockey player who has been under contract with HIFK from the Liiga since 2014 .

Career

Joonas Rask began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of Ilves Tampere , for whose professional team he made his debut in the SM-liiga in the 2008/09 season . The center scored a goal in 27 games and provided an assist. In the following season he increased to 19 points scorer in 43 games. Then the Finnish junior international was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2010 in the seventh round as a total of 198th player by the Nashville Predators .

In 2012, Rask received an NHL entry contract from the Predators, but was loaned to Jokerit Helsinki for the 2012/13 season. The Predators then brought him to North America, where he played for their farm team, the Milwaukee Admirals , in the American Hockey League from April 2013 .

In the summer of 2014 he returned to Finland and was signed by the HIFK .

International

For Finland , Rask took part in the U18 World Junior Championships in 2008 and the U20 World Junior Championships in 2009 and 2010 .
