Juhamatti Aaltonen (born June 4, 1985 in Ii ) is a Finnish ice hockey player who has been under contract with Helsingfors IFK (HIFK) in the Finnish Liiga since June 2016 .
Career
Juhamatti Aaltonen already played in the junior division for Kärpät Oulu , for whose professional team he made his debut in the SM-liiga in the 2003/04 season . Even before his rookie season , Aaltonen was selected in the ninth round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft as a total of 284th player by the St. Louis Blues , for which he never played. Since his debut, the attacker with Kärpät has won the championship title in the SM-liiga four times in 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008 and was runner-up in 2009 and third in 2006. In addition, he reached the final of the IIHF European Champions Cup twice with Kärpät in 2005 and 2006 , with the team losing to the two Russian representatives HK Awangard Omsk and HK Dynamo Moscow .
In 2009, Aaltonen was signed by the Pelicans , who loaned him to HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk for the 2010/11 season . A year later he received a new contract with Metallurg, which was terminated in July 2012. He then moved within the KHL to HK Tractor Chelyabinsk , for which he was not used. In October 2012 he was therefore obliged by Rögle BK .
In the 2013/14 season he was under contract with Kärpät again and at the end of the season he won another Finnish championship with his home club. After this success he returned to the KHL and moved to Jokerit Helsinki .
At the 2014 Olympic Games , he won the bronze medal with the Finnish national team.
