Jordan Township is a township in Northumberland County and one of three townships with that name in Pennsylvania , United States . At the time of the United States Census 2010 , 794 people lived here, in 2000 it was 761.

According to the United States Census Bureau , the township has a total area of ​​44.8 km 2 , with no areas of water being designated.

The natural boundaries of the township are Hooflander Mountain in the north and Mahantango Creek at the foot of Mahantango Mountain in the south. The Fisher Ridge runs right through the township and meets Hooflander Mountain in the east, where both ridges end, not far from the northeast corner of the township. Most of the township is drained by the Mahantango Creek and its tributaries; however, part of the northeast of the township drains via Mouse Creek to Mahanoy Creek and from there to the Susquehanna River .

Administratively, Jordan Township borders (clockwise) in the north on Jackson Township and Washington Township , in the north-east on Upper Mahanoy Township and in the south-east on Upper Mahantango Township of Schuylkill County ; its southern neighbors are Lykens Township and, in the extreme southwest, Pillow , both in Dauphin County . West of the Jordan Township is the Lower Mahanoy Township .

The township is sparsely populated. However, there are two hamlets. Hebe is located in the central south of the township. Not far from the breakthrough of Mouse Creek through Hooflander Mountain is Urban with St. Paul's United Church of Christ.

Demographics

At the time of the United States Census 2000, Jordan Township was inhabited by 761 people. The population density was 17.0 people per km². There were 317 housing units at an average of 7.1 per km ². The population of Jordan Townships was 99.87% white , 0% black or African American , 0% Native American , 0% Asian , 0% Pacific Islander , 0.13% said they belonged to other ethnic groups , and 0% said two or more ethnicities. 0.53% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.

The residents of Jordan Townships were distributed across 296 households out of which 28.0% were living in children under 18 years of age. 75.3% of households were married, 3.0% had a female head of the household without a husband and 19.3% were not families. 15.5% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 6.1% of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 2.86 people.

The population was divided into 19.2% minors, 9.5% 18–24 year olds, 26.8% 25–44 year olds, 29.2% 45–64 year olds and 15.4% aged 65 years or more. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 women there were 97.7 men. For every 100 women over 18, there were 97.7 men.

The median household income in Jordan Township was 42,500 US dollars and the median family income reached the amount of 45,625 US dollars. The median income for men was $ 29,375 compared with $ 21,023 for women. The per capita income was $ 16,839. 4.7% of the population and 2.9% of families had an income below the poverty line , including 6.6% of minors and 5.3% of those aged 65 and over.
