José Antonio Rivadeneira

José Antonio Rivadeneira (born April 9, 1774 in Bruciños , Lugo province , † June 26, 1856 in Valladolid ) was a Spanish Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop of Valladolid .

Life

José Antonio Rivadeneira came from a Galician noble family. He was ordained priest in 1800 and obtained the degree of Doctor iuris utriusque at the University of Osma in the same year . He was then pastor in San Salvador de Maceira ( Diocese of Tui ), later Vicar General and Cathedral Chapter in the Archdiocese of Santiago de Compostela . Pope Leo XII. appointed him on October 2, 1826 as auditor of the Roman Rota for Castile . On the same day, the Pope appointed him papal house prelate , and later ruler of the apostolic penitentiary .

On August 24, 1830 José Antonio Rivadeneira was appointed Bishop of Valladolid and Rome on 28 February 1831 präkonisiert . He received his episcopal ordination on May 15, 1831, the Bishop of Salamanca , Agustín Lorenzo Varela Temes ; Co- consecrators were Joaquín Abarca Blaque , Bishop of León , and Bishop Pablo García Abella CO , Auxiliary Bishop in Toledo .

After 25 years as Bishop of Valladolid, he died in 1856 at his bishopric.
