Saligny-le-Vif is a village and a former French community with 178 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Cher in the region Center-Val de Loire . It belonged to the Arrondissement of Bourges and the Canton of Avord (until 2015: Canton of Baugy ). The inhabitants are called Saligniens .
With effect from January 1, 2019, the former municipalities of Baugy , Laverdines and Saligny-le-Vif were merged to form the Commune nouvelle Baugy of the same name and have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Baugy.

Saligny-le-Vif is located in the Berry countryside about 25 kilometers east-southeast of Bourges . Saligny-le-Vif is surrounded by the neighboring towns of Villequiers in the north and northeast, Laverdines in the east, Bengy-sur-Craon in the south, Avord in the west and Baugy in the north-west.
