José García y Goldaraz

José García y Goldaraz (born October 27, 1893 in Hernani , Spain , † July 10, 1973 ) was Archbishop of Valladolid .

Life

José García y Goldaraz was ordained priest for the diocese of Vitoria in 1918 .

In 1944 he was appointed by Pope Pius XII. appointed Bishop of Orihuela . He received his episcopal consecration on November 26, 1944, the Apostolic Nuncio in Spain and later Curial Cardinal Gaetano Cicognani ; Co- consecrators were Leopoldo Eijo y Garay , Bishop of Madrid , and Luis Almarcha Hernández , Bishop of León .

In 1953 he was appointed Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Valladolid. After his resignation on July 2, 1970, Paul VI appointed him . the Titular Archbishop of ferentium . His age-related resignation on December 11, 1970 was by Paul VI. granted and named Felix Romero Menjibar as his successor, who had previously been Bishop of Jaén .
