José Geraldo da Cruz

José Geraldo da Cruz AA (born August 8, 1941 in Muriaé ) is a Brazilian religious and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Juazeiro .

Life

José Geraldo da Cruz joined the Order of Assumptionists and was ordained a priest on May 1, 1969 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Juazeiro on June 4, 2003 . The Archbishop of Mariana , Luciano Pedro Mendes de Almeida SJ , gave him episcopal ordination on August 16 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Célio de Oliveira Goulart OFM , Bishop of Cachoeiro de Itapemirim , and his predecessor José Rodrigues de Souza CSsR . The inauguration in the Diocese of Juazeiro took place on August 30 of the same year. As a motto he chose ADVENIAT REGNUM TUUM .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on September 7, 2016.
