José Luis Russo , full name José Luis Russo Perrone , (born July 14, 1958 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player .
Career
society
The 1.83 meter tall defensive player Russo played from 1976 to 1979 for Huracán Buceo in the Primera División . As early as December 1979, he was then led in the ranks of the first division competitor Club Atlético Defensor . For Defensor he was active in Uruguay's top division until 1982. In 1983 he moved to Colombia to CD Tolima , in whose ranks he was also in the following year. In 1985 he joined Atlético Bucaramanga . 1986 followed a commitment at Club Atlético Peñarol , which won the Uruguayan championship that year. In 1987 he returned to Colombia. There he was under contract that year with Independiente Medellín .
National team
Russo was a member of the Uruguayan U-20 national team , which took part in the U-20 South American Championship in Venezuela in 1977 and won the title. During the tournament he was used by trainer Raúl Bentancor seven times (no goal). He was also part of the squad at the 1977 Junior World Cup , in which Uruguay finished fourth. During the World Cup he was used five times (no goal). He was also a member of the senior national team of Uruguay , for which he completed 15 international matches between May 31, 1979 and February 7, 1986. He did not manage to score an international goal. With the Celeste he took part under coach Roque Máspoli in the Copa America 1979 and won the Copa Juan Pinto Durán with Uruguay in the same year . He also came into play in qualifying for the 1982 World Cup and was involved in winning the 1983 Copa Artigas .
