José Maria Larocca (born January 1, 1969 in Wettingen , Switzerland ) is an Argentine show jumper. He achieved his greatest individual success by winning the individual silver medal at the 2019 Pan American Games .

Career

As a child he began riding training.

In 2008 he took part with Royal Power at the Olympic Games as a single starter for Argentina (53rd place).

For his participation in the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky and the Olympic Games in London , Larocca acquired Albert Zoer's gelding Okidoki in 2010 for a sum of millions. Only a few months later, the two fell on June 11 at the five-star competition in Cannes . Okidoki tore his front leg with an avulsion tear . During the recovery phase, complications arose, which necessitated further surgery in a special clinic in Bern. There died gelding to a septic shock in the abdomen .

Larocca also competed as a single starter with Royal Power at the Olympic Games in London 2012 . Here he was even able to qualify for the final round and came in 36th.

At the Pan American Games in Toronto in 2015 he came fourth with Cornet du Lys in the individual standings, and won the team silver medal with the Argentine team. A year later, at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , the Argentine team managed to qualify for the second round of the ten best teams. Larocca rode the Westphalian stallion Cornet du Lys (46th in the individual ranking).

At the Pan American Games in 2019 , the Argentine team came fifth. In the individual finals, José Maria Larocca only missed one time penalty with Finn Lente , so he won the individual silver medal. With this success, Larocca Argentina also secured a single starting place for the 2020 Olympic Games .

Private

Larocca works as a stock exchange trader in Geneva . His father owns a riding stable in Argentina.
