José de Jesús López y González (born October 5, 1872 in Aguascalientes , Mexico , † November 11, 1950 ) was a Mexican clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Aguascalientes .

Life

José de Jesús López y González received the sacrament of priestly ordination on November 30, 1897 through the Archbishop of Guadalajara , Pedro José de Jesús Loza y Pardavé .

On July 1, 1927, Pope Pius XI appointed him . the titular bishop of Dadima and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in Aguascalientes. The Bishop of Aguascalientes, Ignacio Valdespino y Díaz , donated him episcopal ordination on March 30, 1928 ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Cuernavaca , Francisco Uranga y Sáenz , and the Bishop of Chiapas , Gerardo Anaya y Diez de Bonilla . On September 30, 1929 Pius XI appointed him. to the Bishop of Aguascalientes. The inauguration took place on January 2, 1930.

During his tenure he founded the religious order of the School Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus .

His tomb is behind the main altar of Aguascalientes Cathedral . In 1996 the process of beatification was opened for him in the diocese of Aguascalientes . After the diocesan information process was completed, the files were handed over to Rome at the end of 1997. Pope Francis awarded him the heroic degree of virtue on June 16, 2017 .
