Josef Blaumeiser

Josef Blaumeiser (born February 25, 1924 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ; † July 9, 1988 in Munich ) was a German graphic artist , designer, illustrator and caricaturist .

Life

After returning to Germany from captivity, he lived in Munich from 1951, where, after training as a graphic artist and designer , he set up his own atelier for advertising graphics and illustration from 1955 .

In addition to book illustrations, he also published his own cartoons and caricatures. In 1977 a selection of his satirical portrait caricatures appeared in his book Contemporaries .

As a cartoonist, he supplied the Süddeutsche Zeitung and the evening newspaper, among others .

He illustrated the 1985 card game Kuhhandel , which was on the selection list for the 1985 game .

Blaumeiser is buried in the Solln forest cemetery. A number of his drawings can still be seen in the Blaumeiser parlor in the Iberl restaurant in Solln , where he had a regulars' table until his death.
