history

Hall with urn niches
Grave of Wilhelm Ritter von Leeb

It was laid out in 1936 according to plans by the architect Bruno Biehler by the municipality of Solln in the south of Munich, which was incorporated into the Bavarian capital soon afterwards. The main entrance is in the middle of the south side, at Warnbergstrasse 2. The group of buildings at the entrance, consisting of a church-like cemetery hall (with wall paintings) and ancillary facilities, is now entered in the Bavarian list of monuments.

The cemetery and an old oak avenue on Warnbergstrasse is where some of the rarest Munich lichens ( Bryoria fuscescens and others) grow .

The Solln forest cemetery has since been expanded twice; Today it covers almost 7 hectares with around 3,000 grave sites (family graves, urn graves and niche places).

The burial district Waldfriedhof Solln comprises the district quarters 19:51 to 19:59.
