Josef Anton Lissner (born April 22, 1923 in Tütz , Posen-West Prussia , † December 30, 2006 in Schäftlarn - Ebenhausen ) was a German radiologist .

Life

After graduating from school in 1942, Josef Lissner served as a non-commissioned officer in a military hospital in occupied France during the Second World War . After the war, Josef Lissner studied medicine at the University of Erlangen until his doctorate in 1951 on the subject of comparative studies on the influence of vitamin K, methionine and a glycocollate ascorbic acid calcium mixture on the hypoprothrombinemia caused by dicumarol . His further training in radiology and radiation therapy took place at the University of Frankfurt , where he habilitated under Professor Alfred Gebauer in 1963 on the subject of surface and electrokymography in the radiological diagnosis of mediastinal and lung diseases and was employed as a senior physician under Professor Boris Rajewsky until 1969 . In 1970 the University of Munich appointed him to the chair for clinical radiology. As director of the radiological clinic and polyclinic, he was in charge of diagnostic radiology , nuclear medicine and radiation therapy . From 1989 to 1991 he was also elected Medical Director of the Großhadern Clinic . In 1994 Josef Lissner retired.

From 1979 to 1985 Josef Lissner was chairman of the German Radiological Society .

Achievements and awards

In addition to his clinical and scientific work, Josef Lissner's significant achievements include the re-establishment of the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) in 1991 and the establishment of the specialist radiological journal European Radiology in the same year.

In 1988 Josef Lissner was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st Class. In 1984 he received the Rudolf Grashey Medal from the Bavarian Roentgen Society, and in 1987 an honorary doctorate from the University of Breslau . He was a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and an honorary member of the following societies:
