Josef Steiner (theologian)

Josef Steiner (born August 19, 1945 in Prägraten , East Tyrol ) is an Austrian Roman Catholic theologian and pastoral consultant .

Life

Josef Steiner studied philosophy and theology in Innsbruck and received his doctorate in liturgy with Hans Bernhard Meyer in 1974 with a thesis on a liturgical historical topic. From 1975 he worked for the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising . As a pastoral consultant - most recently as the head of the responsible "Department of Sacraments Pastoral Care, Catechesis and Voluntary Laity Services" - he was particularly involved in the training of volunteer workers in liturgical services , such as lecturers, communion helpers and worshipers. He designed and published models of the preparation of the sacraments and parish catechesis , which also provided important impulses for the concrete implementation of the concerns of the Second Vatican Council beyond the borders of the archdiocese . He has been retired since 2011. At the moment he is involved with Georg Sporschill in Vienna at his Bible school, as well as with "Bimail".
