Life

Tüshaus came to the Royal Art Academy in Düsseldorf at a young age, in October 1874, and was a student of August Wittig . His classmate and long-time friend was the sculptor Karl Janssen . From December 1882 to 1885 he stayed with him in Rome . Together they created the fountain sculpture Father Rhine and his daughters in front of the Provincial Estates House in Düsseldorf until 1897 , which was erected in memory of the visit of the German imperial couple in Düsseldorf in 1884. Tüshaus also made the statue of Helmuth von Moltkes for the Moltkedenkmal in Düsseldorf. Like Janssen, he was a member of the Malkasten artists' association .

The architect Bernhard Tüshaus (1846–1909) was a cousin of the sculptor. Another relative was the painter Fritz Tüshaus from Münster.
