Josef Wohlmuth

Josef Wohlmuth (born January 7, 1938 in Laibstadt , Bavaria ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian . He worked as a professor at the Universities of Cologne and Bonn.

Life

After graduating from high school in Eichstätt , he studied Catholic theology in Eichstätt and Innsbruck . After being ordained a priest in Eichstätt in 1964 and the primary on July 5, 1964 in Laibstadt , Wohlmuth worked as a chaplain in Gunzenhausen for four years . For his doctoral studies he was at the universities of Tübingen , Bologna , Nijmegen , Regensburg and Bonn . His doctoral supervisor was Josef Ratzinger . In 1980 he completed his habilitation at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Bonn in the subject of dogmatics and the history of dogmas . In 1981 he was appointed professor for theology and its didactics at the educational science faculty of the University of Cologne , where he worked until 1986. He then moved to the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn as a professor of dogmatics , where he stayed until his retirement in 2003. In 1984/85 and 2003/04 Wohlmuth was Dean of Studies for the theological academic year at the Dormition Abbey in Jerusalem.

From May 1, 2004 to September 30, 2011, Josef Wohlmuth was director of the Cusanuswerk . His successor is Georg Braungart .

The Catholic Theological Faculty of the Otto Friedrich University of Bamberg awarded Wohlmuth an honorary doctorate on July 7, 2009, as did the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt on December 12, 2014.
