Joseph Banchong Aribarg

Joseph Banchong Aribarg (born May 27, 1927 in Chanthaburi , Thailand , † September 1, 2012 ) was the Roman Catholic Bishop of Nakhon Sawan .

Life

Joseph Banchong Aribarg was ordained a priest in Rome on December 22, 1956 . He was the principal of Sacred Heart University and a professor at Georgetown University .

Pope Paul VI appointed him bishop of Nakhon Sawan on May 24, 1976 . The Archbishop of Bangkok , Michael Michai Kitbunchu , donated him the episcopal ordination on July 12, 1976; Co - consecrators were Michel-Auguste-Marie Langer MEP , Bishop Emeritus of Nakhon Sawan, and Robert Ratna Bamrungtrakul , Bishop of Chiang Mai . His episcopal motto was Ubi caritas et amor Deus ibi est ("Where there is love and goodness, there is God").

He was President of the Episcopal Conference of Thailand from 1982 to 1985 .

His resignation was granted on November 5, 1998 by John Paul II.
